For my son, when he grows up, this site will be my legacy for him. The decisions his mother and I made for him, to understand them, to learn from them and to lead a life without prejudice and to succeed in it on his own merit.

Monkey see, Monkey act

I believed whatever happened in the past months, or since March general election, have proved, and obviously at that, the current administration is in chaos with ministers making statements to media which do not aligned with the leadership. Worrying it may be, I actually foresee the weakness in our leadership when he first takes helm, being more domestically oriented far in comparison with when Tun Dr Mahathir were steering our ship which took our country and it's recognition beyond our shores. The middle east, where I was posted previously, still respect him very much and remembered him as the only Muslim leader who stood up against the west.

With little or half information I gathered from the presses (and I assumedly believed they are being filtered), it is apparent and like all cases in the past, will slip into oblivion knowing full well that our rakyat has a short memory. Cases like these get highlighted because it involves power play. For every statement made by any political leader in such cases, it can either down or raise the popularity of such figures.

My own opinion of our Malaysian in general, starts with our fore-fathers having to bribe a policeman or DBKL officer for a trivial road offence which, in our society, will save the offender a lot more trouble and time. I need not elaborate such instances precisely, but you know what I mean.

This act have somewhat instill in our children that if you were to break any law, like the Chinese always said, "If you stole food to eat, make sure you wipe your mouth clean". It means to say that you must make sure that your tracks are well covered.

These children have grown up to lead, and is still leading our country now, whether in business or in politics, and perhaps with more to come, with the memories of that one act or acts left behind by their elders, have graduated to bigger things in the name of the rakyat, unity and prosperity to the country.

It really saddened me to see the current political scenario that is happening what with the call of ACA and recently ISA. With these two bodies presumably acting out their responsibilities to maintain order in the country, "without fear or favour". It just proves that by making your opponent a victim, the government have made them even more popular.

Our ex premier too are equally guilty during his tenure which certain political figures were slapped with the same capacity which is still questionable till today. I dare not mentioned names or the events here. But I really praise and admire him for his vision and the performances which many, many times outshined his successor and predecessors. However controversial those implementations may be.

Such perception will have to be curbed from young. Beginning with our education system. I'm not saying our teachers in primary or secondary are not doing a good job in their 'pendidikan'. But we must teach our children to be more vocals and be critical. To question what is right and wrong and to outline the implications. Therefore, able to question their own parents of their own act of misGIVINGS. No pun intended.

We all know for a fact that old habits die hard when it comes to temptation. But we have to start somewhere. Because it takes a whole generation, or even a few generations to make a change and to live the lives we dream of. Meting out more punishment and rules is just going to make our society wiser in identifying loopholes and covering tracks better, and if you have great oratory skills, coupled with cash to spare to engage a top level barrister for a high profile court defense, our way of life will always be THIS WAY OF LIFE.
